Guimaraes strengthen squad with Gregory capture

Targino keen to stay at northerners

Vitoria Guimaraes have strengthened their squad ahead of next season by signing defender Gregory. The former Maritimo stopper comes on a free transfer.

The French central defender who enjoyed an impressive season for the islanders has signed a 3-year deal with Guimaraes.

In other club news, striker Targino has reiterated that he would like to stay with the Champions League participants until the end of his contract. The U21 starlet is tied to Guimaraes until 2011 and would like to see out his contract with the club from Portugal’s founding city.

After having spent the second half of the season with Turkish outfit Vestel Manisaspor, the player is looking forward to making a major contribution with the northerners.

“My future is with Vitoria,” stated Targino emphatically, who has just turned 22 years old. “I am very confident in my abilities. I will be heading towards my sixth season and I like Vitoria Guimaraes very much. I want to continue, but I do not want to speak too much about it because I want to show it on the field.

“I had a very positive experience abroad and today I am a player who is much more mature because of it. I am not worried as I will embark on my holidays knowing that I will report on July 1 for pre-season training.”
