Torino make a move for Guimaraes centre-back Geromel

Douglas transfer hits snag

Vitoria Guimaraes seem resigned to losing central defender Geromel. The elegant Brazilian has gained a lot of interest in and out of Portugal after one year in the top flight of Portuguese football.

Italian side Torino are believed to be willing to take the player on and have established contact with the Portuguese club.

No official word of a deal has come from either camp, but it is believed the player will make a move to Serie A with Vitoria receiving the full 5m euros of the buyout clause in return.

In other club news, the transfer of new signing Douglas may have hit a snag as it transpires the player is involved in a legal battle with his previous club America de Minas Gerais.

The Champions League bound club had signed the Brazilian ace on a free transfer last week, but have been hit with news that the striker still has a contract with the Brazilian outfit until December 2009.

Douglas had filed a lawsuit against America for salaries in arrears, and a final decision has yet to be made by the courts in Brazil. In the meantime Douglas has to report back to America until the courts pronounce their ruling.
