Pele goal fails to save Inter

Vitor Pele was on the score sheet for Inter, but could not prevent the Erasure from losing the Coppa Italia final 2-1 to Roma. Portuguese midfielder Pele came on at half time with Roma 1-0 up, only to see Perrotta make it two before the former Guimaraes man pulled one back just after the hour with a belting long-range goal. Vitorino Antunes (Roma) and Maniche (Inter) were both unused substitutes.

Serbia

Portuguese duo Ednilson and Almani Moreira are celebrating winning the Serbian league title after a 1-0 win at Napredak Krusevac. The victory, combined with rivals Red Star’s failure to beat Hajduk Kula, saw Partizan finish five points clear at the top of the Super Liga. Moreira played the full ninety minutes, while Ednilson was left on the substitutes bench. Partizan’s league triumph completed a memorable double, after winning the Serbian cup earlier this month.

Star Performer

Pele (Inter Milan)

Pele

The young Portuguese star has enjoyed a highly satisfactory first season in Italy, seeing plenty of action despite the competition afforded by one of the most expensively assembled squads in world football. His superb strike failed to save his side from defeat, but caps an impressive year for the combative midfielder.
