Jose Antonio signs for Racing Santander

Portuguese defender Jose Antonio has signed a two-year contract with Spanish side Racing Santander, just days after being released by Borussia Monchengladbach.

The 31-year-old last week reached a mutual agreement with the Bundesliga outfit to terminate his contract a year ahead of schedule, following deterioration in relations with the club during their spell in the German second tier.

However, the former Academica man was a free agent for a matter of days, with his arrival in Spain announced before the weekend, and Ze Antonio will be presented to the club’s fans ahead of pre-season.

Ze Antonio made almost 80 appearances for Gladbach over a two and a half years following his 2005 switch from Academica, while he spent the second half of last season on loan at Turkish club Manisaspor.
