Star man - Ruben Micael

Little was expected of the then 21-year-old when he signed for Nacional from local minnows Uniao da Madeira at the start of the 2008/09 season.

However, the classy midfielder enjoyed a quite superb year, playing a huge role in the club's most successful ever season, and deservedly picking up the Revelation of the Year Award as voted by the 16 top-flight coaches in Portugal.

Indeed, it was something of a surprise that Nacional managed to keep hold of the Portugal U21 player, and a repeat showing this season could see Micael knocking on the door of the senior Portugal team.
