Injury setback for Hugo AlmeidaStriker's comeback delayed Hugo Almeida’s return to action with Werder Bremen has been hindered by a problem stemming from his appendix surgery last month.
The former Porto forward underwent an emergency operation weeks ago, but Almeida experienced pain during his rehabilitation due to a stitch in the abdominal wall. As a result, the player was forced to go back under the knife to remove the stitch, meaning new stitches and an extended period before they can be pulled. Almeida was expected to take part in a practice match on Thursday, but Bremen manager Thomas Schaaf admitted that the setback had made it difficult to assess when the Portuguese will be available. “We realised that he could not take part in certain exercises. I cannot say at the moment when he will return to training,” said the coach. Add your comment |
