ITALY: Ronaldo scores 701st goal in Juventus win [video]

Cristiano Ronaldo made it 701 career goals with a typically lethal finish to help Juventus beat Bologna 2-1 in Serie A on Saturday evening.

Having reached the 700-goal milestone for Portugal against Ukraine last week, Ronaldo made it six goals in his last seven games for club and country as Juve maintained their position at the top of the table in Italy.

Ronaldo opened the scoring in the 19th minute, making space for the shot and beating Bologna goalkeeper Lukasz Skorupski with a low right-foot drive into the near post. Defender Danilo equalised for the visitors soon after but Miralem Pjanic’s second-half winner means Juventus remain a point clear of nearest challengers Inter.

Next up for Ronaldo’s side is a home meeting with Russians Lokomotiv Moscow in Turin on Tuesday in the Champions League. The match should see Ronaldo square off against compatriots João Mário and Eder, who are expected to feature for the visitors in Group D. Midfielder Mário scored his first goal for Lokomotiv on Friday in the Russian Premier League.
