Portuguese champions Sporting have signed teenage Brazilian winger Luís Guilherme from West Have for a fee of 14 million euros plus 3 million euros in add-ons. The Hammers will also be entitled to 15% of any profit made on a future transfer.
Guilherme has signed a five-year contract which contains a release clause of 80 million euros.
“I’m very happy to have joined this gigantic club,” he said.
The 19-year-old revealed that he spoke to former Sporting midfielder and West Ham teammate Mateus Fernandes, and his former manager at Palmeiras Abel Ferreira – also an ex-Sporting player – before completing the move, who both gave glowing references regarding the Lisbon outfit.
Guilherme is expected to go straight into the squad for Sporting’s Taça da Liga semi-final against Vitória on Tuesday evening.
