AC Milan 1-1 Genoa
Rafael Leão struck in stoppage time to earn a below-par AC Milan a late draw against Genoa in Serie A on Thursday, continuing his good run of goalscoring form in Serie A.
Leão scored the only goal of the game last week at the Rossoneri beat Cagliari 1-0 away from home, which he followed up at San Siro with a late finish to hold Genoa 1-1. The result itself is a disappointment for Milan, but with 4 goals in his last 6 league appearances, the Portuguese is finding his shooting boots in Italy’s top tier.
“He had two of three situations in open play where he could have done better,” said Milan boss Massimiliano Allegri, who was clearly keen to void going overboard on the praise. “He’s not at his very best right now, but he was always in the game and still scored at the end of the day.”
Leão is on-course for one of his career best seasons in a Milan shirt in terms of goals. From just 10 starts (with two substitute appearances) the Seleção star has responded with 7 goals, helping Milan to 2nd place, ahead of champions Napoli and just three points off leaders Inter.
