A goal in each half by Samuel Dahl and Georgiy Sudakov gave Benfica a comfortable victory over Vitória at the Estádio da Luz this afternoon.
Marco Silva’s men were all over the team from Guimarães in a dominant opening forty-five minutes, and the only surprise was that the host went into the interval leading by just a single goal.
It came midway through the first half when man-of-the-match Dahl combined neatly with Pavlidis and lifted a cute finish over Vitória goalkeeper Oliwier Zych.
The Swedish left-back must wish he could play every week against Vitória, having scored his first goal for Benfica against the same opposition last season.
The visitors improved in the second half but rarely managed to threaten Benfica’s back line and the game was made safe when substitute Sudakov finished off a flowing move two minutes after coming off the bench.
Benfica reclaim second place in the standings, five points behind leaders Porto.
