They always find a way. FC Porto beat Vitória 2-1 on a rainy night in Guimarães to extend their remarkable start to the 2026/27 Liga Portugal season, winning their eleventh straight game in the competition.
It seemed like business as usual when Borja Sainz converted Alberto Costa’s low cross at the back post shortly before half time to give the Dragons the lead at the break.
But Vitória came back strongly in the second half and when Alanzinho fired a fine cross-shot past Diogo Costa in the 77th minute it was no more than the home team deserved.
At that point it was anyone’s game, but right-back Fernandes proved the unlikely hero for the Portuguese champions, cracking a ferocious shot into the roof of the net from a tight angle in the 86th minute.
Porto held on to make it 33 points from 11 games going into the international break.
