Jose Mourinho has been out of management for just two months, but the Portuguese is already plotting his next move and outlining the conditions that will determine which club is the right fit.

The 56-year-old left Manchester United in December during the early stages of his third season at the club, with speculation rife that Mourinho had a poor relationship with the club hierarchy. As he looks forward to a new challenge, the former Porto boss says long-term ambition and a strong club structure is preferred over short-term desire for trophies.

Gelson Martins and Rony Lopes were both on target as Leonardo Jardim’s revival of Monaco continued with an impressive 2-0 win over Lyon in Ligue 1 on Sunday. The Portuguese duo both struck inside the first half hour with outstanding individual goals as Jardim’s side made it 10 points from four games since his return as manager last month.

Elsewhere, Vítor Pereira’s Shanghai SIPG warmed up for the start of the new Chinese CSL season by beating Beijing Guoan 2-0 in the Super Cup. Portugal international Nani was introduced to the media by MLS club Orlando City on Tuesday, after joining on a three-year contract from Sporting.

Nani, who has been capped 112 times by his country, brought an end to his third spell at Alvalade by completing a much-anticipated move to the United States, where he has been drafted in as a Designated Player with Orlando ahead of the 2019 season.

Lille forward Rafael Leão’s ascent in 2018-19 has been one of the highlights of the Ligue 1 season, with the 19-year-old’s sparkling form in France leading to fans dubbing the former Sporting youngster “The Portuguese Mbappe.”

Leão has scored six goals in his last seven league matches for Lille, having joined last summer from Sporting. The nature of the Portuguese’s performances, including his pace and eye for goal, have drawn him the nickname referring the Paris Saint-Germain forward.
