Cristiano Ronaldo’s 2025 business exploits take him into retail and film production

Now 40 years old, Cristiano Ronaldo continues to perform to an incredibly high level for club and country. At the time of writing, he was riding a five-game scoring streak for Portugal, spanning the Quarter-Finals of the UEFA Nations League Finals through to beating Spain on penalties in the Final, and then into two World Cup Qualifiers.

For his club, Al-Nassr, the club and national team captain put up 35 goals and four assists in 41 games last season and kicked off 2025/26 with two goals and an assist in four games. While envisioning a Portuguese football scene without the legend is tough, Ronaldo has long had an eye on his life after sport.

In 2025, he embarked on two hefty business ventures to add to the colossal catalogue earnings. Clearly assuming that being the highest-paid athlete in the world won’t be enough to see him through retirement, per his Forbes Profile, here’s what Ronaldo’s been up to in the world of business and where his next forays may take him.

Ronaldo in tech and film

Easily the most eye-catching move made by Ronaldo off the pitch in 2025 was to open his own film studio. Teaming up with British film producer, director, and writer Matthew Vaughn, the independent film studio is already committed to a three-film action series.

UR•MARV, Bloomberg UK reports, is about to finance and produce a third film in a series of action films, the first two of which Ronaldo and Vaughn have already financed and produced. Given Vaughn’s body of work and the amount of cash Ronaldo can pump in, expectations will be quite high for these new indie action flicks.

Elsewhere, Ronaldo bought into the new tech-driven supplements company Bioniq. Based on blood test data, the firm sends out AI-driven products to its customers. CR7 was an early investor, initially jumping in in 2024, but has since convinced his peers to invest. The company is now valued at some $82 million.

What’s next for Ronaldo’s business ventures?

Clearly, Ronaldo’s happy to dip his toe into just about any business pursuit. He already owns hotels – including a particularly lavish one with a spa in Marrakech – has lent his name to exclusive product collaborations, and even teamed up with a poker brand to give fans a chance to play against him in February 2017.

His next step, and one that many brands have followed, is to get a branded game in an ever-growing corner of online entertainment. The world of online slots, live casino games, and live game shows is incredibly popular and always eager to incorporate a popular IP or brand. Just looking at the PlayFrank Casino, you can see this in action.

Among the newest casino games, popular brands are getting involved. There’s the Game of Thrones slot and the Who Wants to Be a Millionaire game. They join classics like Starburst and live shows like Deal or No Deal to bolster the offering even further. It wouldn’t be a surprise to see an official CR7 slot enter the fray down the line.

Another corner of entertainment that Ronaldo seems quite keen to jump into further is acting. He now owns his own indie studio, but in 2019, he reportedly said that he has ambitions to star in a film. Beyond that, Ronaldo has also expressed interest in owning a football club.
