Lille 2-2 Paris Saint-Germain
Paris Saint-Germain's difficult start to the new season continued on Friday night with more dropped points at Lille, but the European champions had Portuguese midfielder Vitinha to thank for inspiring a late fightback to earn a point.
PSG were held to a 2-2 draw at Rennes last week on the opening Matchday of the Ligue 1 season, which came a week after Luis Enrique’s side were surprisingly defeated by Lens in the SuperCup. As proceedings entered stoppage time on Friday night, a first league defeat appeared on the cards.
Lille struck in each half through fine efforts by Hakon Haraldsson (21’) and Dilane Bakwa (84’) with both goals set up by veteran striker Olivier Giroud to seemingly put Davide Ancelotti on the cusp of a famous first win in charge. As such, the champions trailed 2-0 when the stoppage time board was raised to show just three additional minutes at the end of normal time at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy.
However, just seconds into the 91st minute, Vitinha scored with a stunning left-footed shot from distance to offer PSG a glimmer of hope. With over 94 minutes on the clock the previously inconceivable equaliser arrived, as Vitinha produced a pinoint cross which picked out captain Marquinhos to head home and secure a point.

The result means PSG remain unbeaten from their opening two tough away matches, but have just two points after the second match week. Vitinha was the only member of the club’s Portuguese trio to feature, with Nuno Mendes suspended and João Neves missing the match through injury.
