Former Vitória Guimarães winger Jota Silva takes the headlines this week after scoring his first-ever hat-trick to help Greek giants Olympiacos to a 5-0 win over Kalamata. Jota's treble put his side 3-0 up in the Super League, on an evening which saw Gustavo Sá and Chiquinho also feature for the hosts, who remain in 2nd place in the table.

Gustavo Varela has been a revelation in Italian football since his summer move to Monza from Benfica. His latest goal came in vain as Monza were beaten 3-2 at Torino on Friday evening, making him the joint leading marksman in Serie A with seven goals from seven matches.

Another player making waves in new settings is Francisco Trincão, who has been a huge asset for Al Ahli since moving to Saudi Arabia from Sporting. Trincão got a goal and an assist in his team's 2-1 win over Al Khaleej, putting him on 9 goal involvements from his 10 outings in the Pro League.

Rúben Neves is an established superstar in Saudi football as he plays his fourth season in the Pro League. The Portugal midfielder got 11 goals in the top flight last term with Al Hilal and is on track for similar this term, with his beautifully placed shot in the weekend win at Al Quadsiah marking his 4th of the current campaign.

Félix Correia appears to be settling into life at Sevilla in Spain, with his goal in Monday night's 2-0 win over Osasuna his second in the space of three matches.

There is little doubt over Cláudio Braga's adaptation to Scottish football. The forward was the SPL's Player of the Year last term and his brilliantly-executed header in a 2-0 win at Motherwell puts him on six goal involvements from ten matches so far.

One of the pick of the goals from a quality point of view this weekend came in Indonesia, with former Lusitania forward Miguel Pereira finding the net in stylish fashion for Persebaya in a 3-1 win over Madura United, during which he also notched an assist.

Former Nottingham Forest, Olympiacos and Vitória midfielder Tiago Silva scored his first goal for new club Shamal of Qatar, following a summer move from rivals Al Rayyan.

Miguel Cardoso is proving adept at scoring from midfield in the Turkish Super Lig. Cardoso's brilliantly taken strike for Erzerumspor was his third goal from his last four matches in the top flight.

The rest..

In Romania, there was an eventful outing for ex-Estoril and Leixoes man Rodrigo Martins, who scored twice and was later sent off as Petrolul won 3-1 at Botosani. Martins, 32, has shone this season with 6 goal involvements across 13 matches in the league.

Portuguese duo Kiko and Rafael Lopes both scored for Anorthosis in Cyprus to give their side a 2-0 win over Omonia. Former Benfica prospect Diogo dos Santos has settled well in Azerbaijani football as he navigates his second season with Imisli, for whom he scored in a 2-1 win over Shamakhi for his 10th league goal across 35 outings in Transcaucasia.

Finally, there were Portuguese goals reaching as far as Latvia and Malta, with another ex-Benfica talent Samuel Lopes scoring for Riga FC in a 5-2 win over Grobina in the Latvian Virsliga, while Saldanha, formerly of Trofense, scoring in Gzira's 2-2 draw with Birzebbuga in the Maltese Premier League.
