Rodrigo Mora is enjoying a fantastic spell in Italian football with Roma, after his goal in the Giallorossi's 3-0 win over Sassuolo on Saturday evening meant the teenager has scored in three consecutive Serie A matches.

Mora finished neatly after receiving a pass from Donyell Malen in the second half to round off the scoring in the capital, as Roma continue to pose a threat of surprise title contenders. The result sees Gian Piero Gasperini's side move temporarily into 2nd spot, just one point behind city rivals Lazio at the top of the standings.

For Mora, who also scored in last weekend's 5-2 hammering of Udinese and the previous 4-2 victory over Cagliari, his growing influence reflects how quickly things can accelerate. At just 19, Mora already has an impressive tally of four Serie A goals from the current campaign, while in the Champions League the former Porto man has registered assists against Real Madrid and Manchester United.

“It was a very good pass from Malen, I tried my luck, and I was happy to score another important goal, so Roma keep pushing with another win,” Mora told Sky Sports Italia. “When I arrived here, I thought we were strong. Every time in training I thought we were a very good team, we are proving that in the match and need to keep this momentum going.

"Football is crazy, because one day you don’t play, the next you play. I was ready, now it’s my third goal in a row, so it’s important to always be ready when the moment comes.”

Mora, who joined from FC Porto in the summer for €25m with the Dragons retaining a 50% sell-on clause, was recently handed a senior Portugal call-up, offering the possibility of a first full cap for the Seleção. The upcoming matches against Wales and Denmark signal the beginning of a new era, following Cristiano Ronaldo’s retirement from international football.

“It’s a very proud moment for me and my family," Mora added. "it is always a pleasure to play for Portugal.

"Now Cristiano is not there, but he is an idol for everyone in Portugal, including me. I learn a lot from the national team, I am very happy to be there.”
