Sporting’s good start to the 2026/27 Champions League came to an abrupt end at Alvalade tonight as the Portuguese side were surprised by Austrian outfit LASK Linz.
The hosts got off to a perfect start when Luis Suárez converted an early penalty, but LASK soon equalised when Suárez lost the ball in midfield and the ball was worked quickly to Christoph Lang who produced a smart finish.
Sporting failed to get their attacking game going all night and the home fans were stunned when Sasa Kalajdzic and Krystof scored in quick succession midway through the second half to put the Austrians in control.
Luis Suárez’s late strike proved too little too late. More to follow.
