As part of PortuGOAL’s efforts to constantly evolve and serve lovers of Portuguese football with top-quality and increasingly accessible content, we are replacing the PortuGOAL Android and Apple APPs with a new Progressive Web Application (PWA) as from tomorrow, Tuesday 3 April.
This big step forward in phone apps technology loads the content instantly, even in areas of low connectivity, stays up to date at all times, displays the most recent version upon launching, is more efficient than native apps, works on-demand and is always accessible, without taking up a smartphone’s valuable memory or data. This is a football site, not a technology one, but for those of you of a techy nature, click here for more on why PWAs are the future of phone applications.
In another improvement, the website itself will be implementing SSL technology at the same time, leading to more secure and faster navigation. PortuGOAListas should be directed to the new URL automatically from tomorrow, if not simply type http://portugoal.net into your browser’s address bar then bookmark the page. Just a quick detour… now back to the football!
Forest fires occur every summer in Portugal but the tragedy that struck the community of Pedrógão Grande in the centre of the country is unprecedented. Over 60 people lost their lives, many trapped in their cars when trying to flee from the flames.
In a new feature PortuGOAL will be bringing you some recommended reading about Portuguese football from around the web, penned by our own network of writers or others.
