Porto have the advantage in the Champions League Round of 16 after beating Arsenal 1-0 at Estádio do Dragão.

The Gunners asserted their authority on the ball early on but failed to do anything meaningful with it. Galeno hit the post in the 21st minute before sending the follow up wide.

The Dragons continued to shut down the Premier League title chasers, Arsenal unable to get Bukayo Saka or Gabriel Martinelli into the game and Leandro Trossard looking lost up front.

Just when a bore draw appeared a mere formality, the Football Gods had one last trick up their sleeve. It had to be Galeno, the most dangerous player on the pitch curling a sweet strike into the top corner deep into added time.

The result will give Sérgio Conceição's side plenty of confidence before the second leg in London on 12 March.

Moreirense 0-2 Sporting

A strong first-half display and a near perfect defensive performance resulted in a 2-0 victory for Sporting at high-flying Moreirense.

Hidemasa Morita and Pedro Gonçalves put the Lions two goals up midway through the first half and a dominant Sporting could have increased their lead before the break.

The hosts improved in the second half but never truly threatened to get back in the match, with Sporting taking home the three points to draw level again with Benfica at the top of the table with a game in hand. 

Roger Schmidt broke with tradititon by heavily rotating his team for the home match against Vizela this afternoon and was rewarded in spectacular fashion as the Eagles treated their supporters to a 6-1 thrashing of bottom-placed Vizela.

A brace from David Neres and goals from Nicolás Otamendi, Tiago Gouveia and Rafa Silva had the hosts 5-0 up at half time.

Samuel Essende pulled a goal back and then missed a penalty for Vizela in a low-key second half, before Marcos Leonardo put the icing on the cake for Benfica with a sixth.

FC Porto have returned to winning ways after defeating Estrela da Amadora 2-0 at the Estádio do Dragão, this Saturday, making it their first victory in three games.

The Dragons held a 1-0 advantage going into the break courtesy of key performer Galeno, finding the back of the net in the 35th minute.

Sérgio Conceição’s men secured the three points in front of their home crowd with a second goal from João Mário in the 56th minute, taking third-placed Porto up to 48 points for the season.
