Ukraine 2-1 Portugal 

Cristiano Ronaldo scored the 700th goal of his illustrious career and registered nine total shots by himself, but Portugal were made to pay for incoherent build-up and failing to break down the organized hosts for long stretches. Ukrainian keeper Andriy Pyatov made nine saves in a wonderful performance. 

Andriy Yarmolenko capitalized on poor defending in the first half to put the hosts up 2-0 after an early goal by Yarmechuck and Andriy Shevchenko's side became the fifth to qualify for Euro 2020 in front of an adoring home crowd in Kiev.

Portugal 3-0 Luxembourg

Portugal returned home to Lisbon and completed a routine victory over Luxembourg tonight to stay in second place in Group B of Euro 2020 qualifying.

Bernardo Silva continued his run of brilliant form, scoring Portugal's first of the night, and Cristiano Ronaldo added another for good measure, his 699th for both club and country in his glittering career.

Gonçalo Guedes rounded out the win by continuing his own goal-scoring flourish with a late deflected effort.

Portugal’s winning start to their U21 European Championship qualification campaign came to a halt following a 4-2 defeat against Netherlands in Doetinchem. Diogo Queirós and Gedson Fernandes both equalised but the hosts scored two late goals to take all three points.

Seleção coach Fernando Santos has announced the squad for Portugal’s upcoming Euro 2020 qualifiers against Luxembourg and Ukraine.

The big news is a first call-up for centre-back Rúben Semedo, who has put personal problems behind him and is rewarded for an excellent start to the season at Olympiakos. Meanwhile, good recent performances have earned recalls for Ricardo Pereira, João Mário, Bruma and André Silva.
