Lithuania 1-5 Portugal

In the first-ever competitive meeting between the two sides, Portugal overcame some early deficiencies to put five past the hosts at the Vetra Stadium tonight. Portugal were lethargic from the onset, but after an error by the Lithuanian keeper the visitors went into cruise control. In characteristic fashion, Ronaldo struggled initially then scored four goals to take his tally to 93 for the Seleção.

Bernardo Silva notched two more assists and William once again wound up on the scoresheet for the fourth time in his Portugal career.

Belarus 0-2 Portugal

Portugal made it two from two to start their U21 European Championship qualification campaign after a 2-0 win in Belarus.

Rafael Leão pounced to put Portugal into the lead in the 68^th minute with substitute Dany Mota adding the second goal in added time.

Portugal take on Lithuania in Vilnius where the Seleção have a great chance to produce a commanding win and smooth the way to Euro 2020 qualification.

Fernando Santos’ side are back on track in the European Championship qualifiers and tomorrow’s match provides an opportunity to edge closer to Group B leaders Ukraine, with the synthetic pitch at the LFF Stadium rather than the opposition likely to provide Portugal’s biggest obstacle to three points. 

Serbia 2-4 Portugal

The Seleção were triumphant in an unlikely high-scoring contest against Serbia in Belgrade tonight with Bernardo Silva and Ronaldo in amongst the goals.

William kick-started an otherwise dull match at the very end of the first half with a scrappy finish, and Portugal traded blows with Serbia until the end to wrestle back second place in Group B of qualification for Euro 2020. Guedes followed his Nations League final heroics with another goal, once again proving any detractors mistaken about the quality of his finishing.
