FC Porto 2-0 FC Vizela

FC Porto have secured second place for another week with a 2-0 victory at home to Vizela as they hunt down league-leaders Benfica in defence of the Primeira Liga title.

The Dragons were made to wait until the 41st minute to break the deadlock, bagged by the ever-impressive Pepê before the half-time interval.

The wait for the second promised to be just as excruciating, however, as Mehdi Taremi, with four minutes of normal time left, put the game to bed and reinstated the gap between themselves and on-song Benfica to eight points, with the Northern outfit still with a game in hand to look forward to.

Braga got back to winning ways in the Primeira Liga after a hard fought 4-1 win against Famalicão that was more difficult than the score suggests.

The Warriors went ahead through an own goal in the 22nd minute but couldn’t turn their first half dominance into a healthier lead.

Famalicão hung in and equalised in the 71st minute when Leandro Sanca scored less than two minutes after coming off the bench.

Braga’s new signings came to the fore however, Pizzi playing a role in Simon Banza’s go ahead goal and assisting Bruma who made it 3-1 in added time.

Bruma wasn’t done, showing his trademark speed to surge through the middle of the pitch and force a howler from Luiz Júnior who slapped the ball into his own net.

A brace from João Mário (for the second game running) and a goal from Alexander Bah saw a dominant Benfica beat Casa Pia 3-0 at the Estádio da Luz this evening. 

The Bwin Liga leaders will not be even bigger favourites with the best betting sites in Canada to win the Portuguese championship. 

The visitors held out for over half an hour, but once the breakthrough came the result was never in doubt as Benfica extend their lead at the top of the table to 11 points, albeit having played two games more than their title rivals. 

At the start of the January transfer window, Portuguese giants Benfica announced the signing of 18-year-old Andreas Schjelderup.

The young Norwegian joined the Lisbon club after a long and competitive transfer battle between some of Europe’s biggest clubs, and he has arrived with huge expectations.
