For all of the success that he has enjoyed down the years, the humble playmaker has never been considered a superstar in any of the sides that he has graced. For one reason or another, there has always been somebody else stealing the limelight and headlines. 

There may be some mixed feelings for Portugal forward Jota after another hugely successful season with Scottish giants Celtic, who completed a domestic treble this weekend at Hampden Park.

Jota scored the final goal as the Hoops beat Inverness CT 3-1 in the FA Cup final on Saturday, putting the seal on another excellent season for the former Benfica man. However, Jota’s exploits in Glasgow have seemingly done little to further his international cause, with Roberto Martinez opting against his inclusion when announcing the latest Seleção squad.

Wolverhampton Wanderers paid tribute to veteran Portuguese midfielder João Moutinho after it was announced he is to leave the club on a free transfer this summer.

Moutinho joined Wolves in 2018 upon their promotion to the Premier League, spending five years with the club in England’s top flight and becoming a crucial member of the team under Portuguese bosses Nuno Espírito Santo and Bruno Lage.

Portuguese international Rafael Leão has finally committed his future to AC Milan by signing his long-awaited new contract at San Siro.

Leão has signed a five-year contract with Milan, tying himself to the club until 2028. Having been in negotiations for well over a year, the former Sporting man says he is delighted to have settled his future with the Rossoneri, where Leão says he feels perfectly comfortable.
