Portugal international Vitinha finally scored his first goal for Paris Saint-Germain this weekend, and the strike in a 3-1 win over Lens was worth the wait.

The former Porto midfielder has been a regular at the Parc des Princes since his summer move from the Dragão, but until Saturday’s match in Ligue 1 Vitinha had yet to find the net for his new club.

Marseille 3-1 Troyes

Portuguese striker Vitinha is off the mark for Marseille, after scoring twice to help his team to a 3-1 victory over Troyes in Ligue 1 on Sunday evening.

Vitinha arrived at the Stade Velodrome at the start of February from Braga in a €32m deal, signing a four-and-a-half-year contract. The 22-year-old’s start to life in France has been low-key, with no goals in his first six appearances and his role largely reduced to that of a substitute.

Man City 3-0 Bayern Munich

Manchester City took a huge step towards reaching the Champions League semi-finals with a convincing 3-0 win over Bayern Munich on Tuesday, and the triumph was largely influenced by their Portuguese duo.

Bernardo Silva scored the second and Rúben Dias was a standout performer in defence as the English champions maintained their treble ambitions. After the match, City manager Pep Guardiola was glowing in his praise of Bernardo, who also assisted the first goal of the night for Rodri.

Vítor Pereira’s stint as manager of South American champions Flamengo is over, before the Portuguese had even had the chance to take charge of a Campeonato Brasileiro match.

Pereira was fired by the club on Tuesday morning following a troublesome spell in cup competitions ahead of Brasileirão 2023. Flamengo were beaten in the Brazilian Supercup, the South American Supercup and the Carioca State Championship, making Pereira the first manager in the club’s history to lose his first three finals in charge.
