Seleção coach Fernando Santos has announced his squad for the final two matches of the Nations League group phase.

There was particular interest in the list this time around given that it is the penultimate squad announcement before Santos reveals his World Cup squad.

There were no major surprises, although the inclusion of Pedro Neto and Tiago Djaló raised some eyebrows, with the likes of Gonçalo Guedes, David Carmo and Gonçalo Inácio missing out. 

The Portuguese Football Federation today unveiled the kits the Seleção will wear at the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.

In a break from the past, the kits are unlike any previous iteration of Portugal’s tournament outfits and will certainly divide opinion amongst the millions of Seleção fans at home and all around the world. 

All eyes will be on Cristiano Ronaldo in the likelihood of his final World Cup in Qatar 2022. The 37-year-old has won every prize in the game, but the ultimate international team crown has evaded his grasp.

Portugal came close at the 2006 World Cup but were knocked out in the semi-final stage by France. Since then Portugal have failed to progress beyond the round of 16, losing out at the hands of Uruguay in the 2018 World Cup. 

The FIFA World Cup 2022 is mere months away, and football fever amongst fans and bookmakers alike is rising.

The World Cup kicks off in Qatar on 21 November, and while the final squads won’t be announced until approximately six weeks before the big kickoff, there is a lot of speculation surrounding who will be representing Portugal at the World Cup and who will miss out.
