The 2021-22 Bundesliga season kicked off this weekend and for André Silva, one of last season’s star performers, the opening round offers a chance to make an early impression at new club RB Leipzig.

Silva was in sensational goalscoring form with Eintracht Frankfurt last term, breaking the club’s all-time record for goals in a single campaign with 28 to his name. A summer switch to Leipzig means the former Porto man is now expected to lead a title charge to displace perennial champions Bayern Munich.

Manchester City recently confirmed that Jack Grealish has joined them from Aston Villa in a deal worth a reported British-record £100 million.

Grealish joins a City squad that would already have been a strong contender for the Premier League title with their B-team - and that’s before we even discuss Harry Kane and his protracted potential switch from Spurs. 

Portuguese international Gelson Martins has been in fine goalscoring form for French club Monaco during the early stages of the season.

The former Sporting forward scored just three goals in all competition for Les Monegasques last season, but already has two from the opening pair of matches this term in Ligue 1 and Champions League qualification.

Ludogorets 2-2 Olympiacos (3-3 agg; Ludogorets win 4-2 on pens)

Greek champions Olympiacos are out of the Champions League at the 3^rd qualifying round after a penalty shootout defeat to Ludogorets in Bulgaria.

The first leg ended 1-1 in Piraeus last week and a 2-2 draw in Razgrad on Tuesday evening would traditionally have seen Olympiacos through on away goals. However, the deciding rule was abolished ahead of this season and instead the sides contested a penalty shootout in which the hosts emerged victorious.
