Sanjoanense beat CF Os Belenenses 3-2 in extra time at Estádio Conde Dias Garcia to reach the Taça de Portugal fourth round.

The hosts dominated the first half before Belenenses’ striker Pedro Martelo won and converted a penalty on the stroke of half time.

Sanjoanense's Nuno Barbosa equalised in the 82nd minute to take the game to extra time where Elijah Benedict took five minutes to put the São João da Madeira club into the lead.

There was more drama to come when Clé resotred parity from the penalty spot, but the home supporters were sent home happy after Joel Silva won the game with a spectacular strike.

Estoril survived a scare in the Taça de Portugal third round where they came from behind to earn a 3-2 victory in Amora. The 3 Liga club took the lead in the 14th minute when David Dinamite’s cross was converted by Pedro Vieira.

Nélson Veríssimo’s took advantage of Amora’s inability to clear their lines in the second half, João Carvalho and James Léa-Siliki scoring in the space of six minutes to turn the game around.

The result appeared assured when Erison extended Estoril’s lead in the 83rd minute before an action packed period of added time at Complexo Municipal de Atletismo Carla Sacramento.

Bernardo Vital was sent off before Tiago Duque bundled the ball home to set up a tense finish, but it was too late for the hosts as Estoril hung on to advance to the fourth round.

Vitinha’s first half hat-trick wasn’t enough to earn Braga a vital victory in the Europa League after an entertaining 3-3 draw against Union Saint-Gilloise.

Anthony Moris failed to handle his swerving strike before Victor Boniface equalised five minutes later. 

Vitinha showed his first goal was no fluke, heading home Nuno Sequeira’s free kick and executing a deft left footed finish to extend the lead on the stroke of half time.

Union Saint-Gilloise did well to fight their way back into the contest after the break, Dante Vanzeir winning and converting a corner four minutes after the restart.

The home supporters were loving life at Den Dreef Stadion and their side responded by converting a third cross, Boniface heading past Matheus after meeting Loïc Lapoussin’s dangerous delivery into the box.

It was déjà vu for Sporting against Marseille in a forgettable Champions League night for the home supporters at the José Alvalade stadium. Just like in France one week ago, Sporting were a man down and two goals down early in the match.

Ricardo Esgaio picked up two yellow cards in quick succession and was sent off, the second leading to Marseille’s opener from the penalty spot, converted by Mattéo Guendouzi.

Alexis Sánchez soon doubled the French side’s lead and a second red card for Pedro Gonçalves in the second half completed a nightmare evening for the Lions.
