Palmeiras hold a three-point lead over Atletico Mineiro and Flamengo, while their goal difference advantage of 8 and 16 respectively over their rivals means Verdão would need to suffer a disastrous final-day collapse in order to fail in their ambitions.

João Félix came back to haunt Atletico Madrid on Sunday evening by scoring the winning goal as Barcelona defeated Los Rojiblancos in La Liga.

Félix, who is on-loan at Barca for the season from Atletico, made the difference with a typically classy finish midway through the first half, ending his parent club’s recent run of four straight victories.

Al Hilal 3-0 Al Nassr

Al Hilal opened up a 7-point lead at the top of the Saudi Arabian Pro League on Friday evening, thanks to a 3-0 victory over Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al Nassr, led by fellow Portuguese Luís Castro.

With Rúben Neves in midfield, Al Hilal ran out comfortable winners on paper, but there was controversy on the night as Ronaldo had a goal ruled out towards the end of the encounter with the score still at 1-0, as well as various other aggrievances. 

José Mourinho was in deeply critical mood after Roma’s 1-1 draw against Servette in the Europa League Group G on Thursday evening. The Giallorossi gave up a half-time lead to drop two points in Switzerland, meaning they remain behind Sparta Prague and will likely contest the play-offs.

Speaking after the match, Mourinho said he was unimpressed with his players’ attitude towards the game in the second period, while specifically naming midfielder Houssem Aouar having replaced the Algerian international before the hour mark.
