Cristiano Ronaldo made his 100^th appearance for Juventus on Sunday and celebrated the occasion with a brace of penalties as the Italian champions beat Genoa in Serie A.

Ronaldo’s double takes him onto ten goals from just seven appearances in the league so far this season, while for Juve the victory represented third straight win and followed the Bianconeri’s impressive 3-0 result against Barcelona in midweek.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that Portuguese international Diogo Jota will be out until February after picking up a knee injury during the week.

Jota sustained the injury in Liverpool’s match with Midtjylland in the Champions League, with the Seleção man replaced in the closing minutes. Although Jota does not require surgery, the injury suffered will require a notable spell on the sidelines to heal.

The performance level of Portuguese across the continent has been recognised this week with the monthly awards in Europe’s three most high-profile leagues being dominated by Luso exports.

Cristiano Ronaldo, João Félix and Bruno Fernandes were named Player of the Month in Italy, Spain and England respectively, while José Mourinho landed the Premier League Manager of the Month and Diogo Jota and Rúben Dias picked up further awards.

Portugal U19 international Marcos Paulo was the star of the show on Saturday night as Fluminense beat Athletico Paranaense 3-1 at Maracanã Stadium in the Campeonato Brasileiro.

The 19-year-old, who has represented Portugal at international youth level since April last year, enjoyed by far his most productive evening in Brazil’s top flight, scoring twice as well and registering an assist while displaying great positional variation.
