It was a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon for Manchester City on Sunday, as the European champions eased to a comfortable 3-0 win over Manchester United at Old Trafford.

While Erling Haaland proved the key in scoring two goals, it was Bernardo Silva who was named Man of the Match after another imperious display. City boss Pep Guardiola was typically gushing in his praise of the Portuguese, who controlled proceedings in a central midfield role.

During his rise to legendary status in the football world, Ronaldo has had his fair share of bust-ups through the years. The Portuguese icon has always had something of a short fuse on the pitch and, if reports are to be believed, off the pitch at times too.

Ronaldo may appear to be something of a prima donna on the surface, but one could argue it’s his pursuit for success and footballing perfection which often leads to his high-profile fallouts with players and managers alike. 

Cristiano Ronaldo is in truly sensational form in Saudi Arabia with Al Nassr. Another two goals on Tuesday evening in the Asian Champions League against Al Duhail means the Portugal captain now has seven goals from his last four matches for club and country.

Speaking after the 4-3 victory for his side in Group E, Ronaldo continues to demonstrate he is revelling in his new lease of life in 2023, having endured a troublesome end to the previous year.

Lyon 1-2 Clermont

Olympique Lyonnais dropped to bottom of the table in France this week, with defeat to previous 18th place occupants Clermont at home seeing Les Gones now propping up the standings in Ligue 1.

It is a sobering reality for a club which dominated French football with seven consecutive national championships between 2002-2008, as well as proving a well-respected outfit across several impressive Champions League campaigns.
