The Portuguese Liga today released the schedule for nine of the remaining ten rounds of matches to complete the 2019/2020 season, interrupted in early March due to the Coronavirus pandemic. 

As usual, the fixtures for the final jornada have not been announced, as the need to simultaneously schedule matches that will have a bearing on the title winners, European qualification, or relegation places will only be known nearer the time.

Benfica and Marítimo have become the first clubs to raise concerns over the relocation of fixtures upon the Primeira Liga's return to action, post-lockdown.

In a scheduled return for June 4th, the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) have been advised to limit the use of stadiums across the division to a select few, prompting the Eagles and the Madeira outfit to issue a response on rumoured plans.

Coronavirus might have put a stop to football games but if you think clubs aren’t using this time to plan their summer transfer activities then we suggest you think again. They are. Benfica have all but completed a deal to bring in Boavista goalkeeper Helton Leite but, as ever, it is the outgoing players who are likely to be the biggest transfers at the Luz in the off-season.

There are a trio of players in particular who are on the radar of clubs from Europe’s top five leagues. If the entire trio leave, then Bruno Lage is going to have his work cut out to replace them. Here we look at the three names who might be heading for the exit door. 

The intention to resume Portuguese football at the end of May has been brought into doubt following events reported on Sunday.  

Throughout the day news was released of 10 footballers and staff from four different clubs in Portugal’s top division testing positive to Covid-19. Later in the evening, Porto and Sporting players expressed their grievances at aspects of the protocol put in place by the health authorities to resume the Primeira Liga.
