SL Benfica travel to Boavista FC on Monday night in the final match of Jornada 6 of the Primeira Liga in a mouthwatering encounter between two of Portugal’s most decorated and well supported clubs. 

The hosts will be desperate to get something from the game as they hover just above the relegation zone, while Benfica will hope to continue the “new manager bounce” so far experienced under Bruno Lage. PortuGOAL previews the match. 

Sporting made light work of AVS in Lisbon tonight, clocking up a 6th successive victory in the Primeira Liga to stay three points clear at the top of the standings.

Star man Viktor Gyökeres was temporarily upstaged by Conrad Harder, the teenage Danish striker giving the hosts the lead on his full debut in the Portuguese capital.

But the Swede soon took centre stage as per usual, scoring goals either side of half time as the Lions ran out easy winners. Tom Kundert reports from Alvalade. 

Vitória de Guimarães' winning streak at Estádio Dom Afonso Henriques came to a close after suffering a 3-0 defeat to a superior Porto side.

The Conquerors kept it tight in the first half, their resolve broken in the 47th minute when Samu Omorodion headed Joäo Mário's cross past Bruno Varela.

The Spanish striker doubled the Dragons’ advantage 12 minutes later when he finished off a fine pass from Francisco Moura.

Guimarães couldn’t find a way back, Moura registering his second assist in the 88th minute when his cross was headed home by Pepê.

There is no doubt about the game of the weekend in Portugal as Vitória SC look to continue their sensational form this season against FC Porto at the Dom Afonso Henriques stadium on Saturday evening.

Elsewhere leaders Sporting host AVS at Alvalade, while Benfica, Braga and Famalicão face potentially tricky trips to Boavista, Nacional and Moreirense respectively. PortuGOAL previews the action.
